SHEILA SCHMITZ

Sheila Schmitz asked Molly to create a painting of her with her beloved kitties, and creating this for her was a joyful experience. Here’s lovely Sheila with her boys in front of the painting of her with her boys. Meta!

Sheila says:

“I love the original painting Molly Brandenburg did of me with my kitty boys Simon and Peach. Working with her on it was so easy and fun. A must for every cat mom or dad!”

JAMES DOUCETTE

James Doucette asked Molly to recreate a photo from their old faux lounge act, so she did it in a vivid cartoon style. Molly sent James sketches in advance for approval, and he was happy with the colorful acrylic finished piece. James says:  “MB…your artwork is stunning and pops with color. And movement. I love it!”

CAMMY MCCANDLESS

Cammy McCandless asked Molly to  do a fanciful ink and watercolor of her daughter and her fiancé, as well as a watercolor of their cat. These are the fanciful results, which Cammy was very happy with. Cammy says:

“One of our most prized possessions is a Brandenburg original watercolor sketch of our cat, Mr. Banks, which now hangs whimsically among other family portraits. With only a few words of direction and expectation, Molly produced a few quick options for us to choose between. We talked about colors and the general vibe and then, in very short order, she sent a photo of her  masterpiece. We cannot believe how brilliantly she captured the life and attitude of our fur baby and how often we laugh in delight at the sight.

Equally cherished is a watercolor sketch of our daughter and her fiance. Again, the process was simple and professional, and produced results that capture their essence in a light-hearted style.

I know we’ll be ordering more pieces and look forward to working with Molly again.”

MOE AND MEL

During the pandemic, Molly finally realized the dream of creating an animated short film based on her original characters, Moe and Mel. Moe and Mel are two old friends who hold things together through life’s ups and downs while having various mishaps and misadventures. Molly created the characters many years ago while studying character design with Disney artist Mike Giamo (“Frozen,” “Pocahontas”). During the pandemic Molly’s daughter, Artist Emma Benson, brought the characters to life using the animation skills she learned at Cal Arts.

The short has had success in the film festival circuit, being named a semi-finalist in the New York Animation Festival along with other citations, including being named an official selection in the San Francisco Arthouse awards. Episode two is currently underway, featuring Greg Polcyn as Moe (and co-writer), Nick Toth as Mel, and with music by David Richard Thompson.
